Volunteer Custody Visitors thanked for supporting the welfare of detainees
Two volunteers who have spent more than ten years checking on the welfare of police detainees in Norfolk have received a special thank you for their dedication to their roles.
We have sadly had to say goodbye to one of our long-standing volunteers, Tracey Matthews, who is stepping down after 10 years in the role.
Tracey started volunteering in 2016 and shorty after she started, she stepped up to be the Great Yarmouth panel coordinator and has been an active member of the Scheme ever since.
As a coordinator, Tracey has organised the rota for the other volunteers at Gt Yarmouth as well as helping deal with issues raised during the visits. She has also helped the Scheme Manager, Simon Atherton, in other aspects of the scheme such as reviewing policy, helping at events and assisting with training and recruitment of new volunteers.
We will miss her absolute passion for the Scheme and her wonderful commitment over many years, and we wish her all the very best for the future.

Also leaving us is Lindsey Cullum who has been an ICV for 12 years. Lindsey is stepping down to pursue other volunteering opportunities. Like Tracey, Lindsey was one of the ICV coordinators and helped run the Aylsham visiting panel by arranging visits and supporting the other volunteers working at the Police Investigation Centre (PIC).

Scheme Manager Simon Atherton said: “Lindsey has been a fantastic volunteer and hugely committed to her role. As well as her work at the PIC, she helped me with the recruitment of new volunteers as well as scheme administration and policy development. We will really miss her professionalism and enthusiasm for the role but wish her well in her next venture.”
