Hate Crime Awareness Conference 2026

Norfolk Constabulary and Norfolk Community Safety Partnership held their annual Hate Crime Awareness Conference last week. The conference provided a valuable opportunity to hear powerful lived experiences, reflect on the progress made since the last event, and consider how we can continue to strengthen our collective response to hate crime across Norfolk. This year the conference focussed on mis, dis and malinformation.

The policing teams shared updates on a number of key initiatives, including the successful delivery of the Hate Crime training course highlighted by the Restorative Justice team, as well as further information on the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. Tabletop activities generated thoughtful discussion and demonstrated the importance of partnership working in promoting community cohesion in the face of increasing mis, dis and malinformation being shared.

Rita Dattani, EDI Adviser who led the event for Norfolk Constabulary said: “The fantastic attendance again this year demonstrated the partnership’s continued commitment to this important area. This work can only be effective when we continue to support and learn from one another, coming together in this way to tackle hate crime and build stronger, more cohesive communities. We will now review the feedback received, alongside the discussions and ideas generated during the tabletop activities to help inform future initiatives and partnership activity.”
