Simon George

Every police and crime commissioner (PCC) is required by law to appoint a Chief Finance Officer.  Simon George has held this post in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Norfolk (OPPCN) since September 2024.

Simon’s responsibilities as Chief Finance Officer include providing high-quality financial advice, information and guidance to the PCC so that good decisions can be taken, ensuring the PCC’s policies and plans are adequately resourced and financial management arrangements across the Force and the Office of the PCC are fit for purpose. He also works on cross-cutting areas, including liaison with the Home Office and Ministry of Justice, on matters locally and attendance at forums nationally.

Simon was previously the Executive Director of Finance & Commercial Services at Norfolk County Council, a position he held from May 2015 to April 2023 and has over 30 years of experience as a senior financial professional in the public sector, initially at the BBC and then with several local authorities.

He also has a wealth of experience in trustee roles; Simon has been a trustee at The Nancy Oldfield Trust Ltd for the past seven years and was Vice Chairman and Chairman for children’s charity Break for over 11 years.

Additionally, he also sits on the Council of the UEA as Treasurer and is a Trustee of Norwich City Community Sports Foundation. 

Simon enjoys, sailing, fishing and walking and is a Norwich City FC supporter and season ticket holder.
