Sarah Taylor asks residents to submit questions on policing and crime for her PCC Accountability Meeting

Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sarah Taylor wants to hear from Norfolk residents in preparation for her second PCC Accountability Meeting in October.

Sarah is inviting residents to submit questions on their policing and crime concerns ready for her meeting scheduled to take place at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner in Wymondham on Tuesday, 8 October from 10am.

The quarterly meeting allows Sarah to publicly question, challenge and hold the Chief Constable Paul Sanford and senior officers directly to account about how policing is delivered across the county.

Questions must be submitted prior to the meeting and the PCC is encouraging people to share their questions with her no later than 5pm on Monday, 23 September.

PCC Sarah Taylor said: “I’m really keen to hear from people about their concerns and issues about policing or crime. The Accountability meetings are a key opportunity for residents to get in touch and have their say.  While Norfolk is one of the safest places to live in the country, complacency is never an option.

“This month I launched my Police and Crime Plan consultation which has given me the opportunity to tour the county and meet people at a local level to get a better understanding of what the issues are.  By taking part in my consultation, you will help me shape the priorities to inform my Plan.

“I am proposing ten core priorities for Norfolk and would really value feedback from as many people as possible along with any experiences and ideas to share. As an office, I commission services to support victims/survivors and vulnerable people and so I am particularly eager to hear from them too.

“Sending me your questions for the PCC Accountability meeting provides me with another valuable insight and gives residents across Norfolk a useful way to get their questions answered and addressed about any part of policing or crime prevention.”

The PCC Accountability Meeting in October will give the PCC the opportunity to gauge the police’s performance against the previous PCC’s Police, Crime and Community Safety Plan. The agenda will include reports on the six priority areas:

  • Sustain Norfolk Constabulary
  • Visible and Trusted Policing
  • Tackling Crime
  • Prevent Offending
  • Support Victims
  • Safer and Stronger Communities

The next PAM will take place on Tuesday, 8 October in the Barsby Conference Room at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Building 7, Jubilee House, Falconers Chase, Wymondham, Norfolk NR18 0WW.

People are welcome to attend and observe the meeting in person. This will also be recorded and published on the OPCCN website. The deadline to register attendance is 5pm on Friday 4 October.

The deadline to submit a question is 5pm Monday, 23 September.
